Having a firm handrail for support is essential for any balustrade or railing stair installation. Please note that for accessibility needs and fire department requirements there are specific adaptations that need to be considered.
Normally for stair handrails a mounting height of about 900mm from the floor or front end of step to the top of the rail is required. This is so that children can also reach comfortable the handrail. The handrail size or diameter should be restricted to up to 2” (50,8mm) for the best hand fit. We like to offer 1 ½” (38,1mm) for most stair case handrail installations.
